BSD chooses GEODIS for the optimized management of its logistics

The three-year agreement establishes a new logistic partnership between GEODIS and BSD, the Italian importer of high-range household appliances.

The Contract Logistics Line of Business of GEODIS in Italy will manage BSD’s logistics activities nationally. This is a tailor-made project developed to both streamline and standardize the customer’s entire supply chain by optimizing picking, fulfillment and delivery timing.

For over twenty years, BSD has been the Italian official importer of LIEBHERR refrigerators, freezers and wine cellars. Specialized in the import and distribution of high-end household appliances for the preservation of food within domestic and professional contexts, it has enlarged its offer over the years, extending to the cooking and washing sectors, namely ASKO equipment.

The successful collaboration between BSD and GEODIS comes from the need to manage increasing volumes of inbound and outbound flows, with a special focus on the storage of large parcels and spare parts.

The integrated logistics project implemented by GEODIS for BSD involves a strategic reengineering and LEAN rationalization of the supply chain processes since the start-up phase, in order to optimize the handling of significant annual volumes, estimated at 51,000 pieces for a total weight of 3.6 million Kilos.

Within GEODIS’ logistic campus in Castel San Giovanni (PC), the storage area prepared by the provider offers a basic occupancy of 4.500 sq m up to a peak of 6.500 sq m and it is organized to accommodate an average stock of 8.000/9.000 pieces between the 530 references managed, from the producers within north-western Europe.

Through its unique professional skills and high-quality standards, GEODIS reaffirms its leadership by ensuring the application of highly flexible operational best practices that, together with a perfect flow tracking system, are key elements to the management of this particular product category. The layout has been set up to gain a daily average orders fulfillment of 95%, attested by specific KPIs, but also to guarantee the complete security and integrity of the goods during handling and transportation.
